Fight for Home, 5 stars

This story
was raw, real, and laced with pain. It had hurt, despair, and strength. All of
those overlayed everything, but our characters also had joy, hope, and happiness,
but they didn’t focus on those, and that became what tripped them up. There
were reasons, real reasons, for every emotion they felt, and at the core of
it all was the love they had for each other. That bound them together when
everything spiralled apart. That kept them coming back together when they
only wanted to stay away. That is what caused them to stop and assess what
was happening, over what they were seeing, and feeling, and solidified their commitment
to each other |

What I
truly liked about this story is how it didn’t mask the effects of PTSD, and
the different experiences it can develop from, and the many forms it can
take. I loved how the focus wasn’t on fixing, but healing, and recognizing
limitations and support needed. The need for found family when circumstances
find you isolated, and developing instincts to reach out when struggling. The
relationship between our couple seems straightforward, until the surfaces are
scratched. That they have a devil-may-care attitude and ready smiles hiding
the murkiness swirling beneath. Twiz and Erika ended up together by chance,
but it was the draw they couldn’t ignore that kept them coming back together
again, and again, and finally, forever <3 |
Broken Home, 5 stars

Two broken people,
broken by life and circumstances, full of guilt and pain, learn to heal.
These two are at different points in their lives, but they line up as each
others friend so easily. The time and space they need make them see that they
connect on more than a friendly level. They still trip themselves up occasionally,
but they learn to listen to each other, and those around them, to stay on
track. Beautifully broken, never fully healed, but stronger than ever, these
two build a life together that is perfect for them <3 |
