Well, that
has me hooked! I love it when you read a new series and it just grabs you.
This is one of those series starters that sets up the world beautifully. We
also are introduced to key characters in a way that isn’t overwhelming. And
by the end of the book, you can see where the next two books are going,
couple-wise, and the mystery is still there for the big bad. There were some unexpected
moments in the book, one that simply whooshed the air from my lungs and had
me reading the next chapter through watery tears. This book is the story of
the underdog, because it certainly seems all our heroes are in the dark, but
you sense the strength in them. You think that the problems can’t be
overcome, but you feel the hopefulness through the despair. Our couple goes
through it all together, what they can control, what they can’t, what they
feel, and how they act. They fit from the start and they grow stronger as the
book progresses. I was frantically flipping pages by the end of the book and
can’t wait for more in the series! |
