Not going
to lie, some of the scenes with Becca being her sadistic self were scary to
read. You get glimpses of how far she could go if someone wasn’t there to pull
her back. That someone is sometimes Kendric, not that he wanted to stop her,
but centuries taught him limits and diplomacy. Then we have the whole
psychological aspects and those are much more subtle, and from various
angles, and left even more of an impact. There was lots of self-reflection in
this book as well, for both Kendric and Becca. Nathan once again proves how good
of a leader he is, and how he knows Becca, maybe better than she does her
self on certain things. Fast paced, ever changing, loaded with a variety of
power plays, and ending with a question on the future, I was completely
absorbed by this story and can’t wait for the conclusion! |
