Hutch was everything I hoped he would be and even more!!! This is the first book in the Reloaded Masters and Mercenaries series as some of the younger members are a little older now and getting their HEA’s. Hutch was always my favourite of those guys, so I was super stoked when I heard his story was up first. Even better, Noelle, from Butterfly Bayou, is all grown up now and our heroine. Don’t worry if you haven’t read any of the previous M&M books, or the Butterfly Bayou series, you can easily follow along, as all the pertinent background information is shared as our couple get to know each other. Hutch is paired with Kyle Hawthorne for his mission. This made me even more happy, because Kyle was in the first ever M&M books, for a blink, but still, he is Grace’s son. He’s been through some things, and his storyline starts to be laid out here, but you know it will be down the road. I also loved the symmetry of the ending of the scene in the hospital room with Kyle that so closely mirrored Grace’s hospital stay that ended her book

Hutch was exactly as expected, not really settled, but matured now. He is also not looking for anything permanent but falls completely the moment he meets Noelle. Like, totally completely, birds singing and rainbows in the sky. He messes things up, as he is want to do, a few times, but with Big Tag giving him advice, and Kyle as a very sturdy wingman, he keeps things on track until he learns to do it himself. Noelle is just starting a new and exciting phase in her life, and she has lots of doubts about herself as well. While extremely intelligent, like Hutch, they both have a few issues expressing their feelings clearly. Even when Noelle sees it all falling apart, once she logically thinks through things, she sees the reality over her emotions

The story was full of twists, turns, excitement, subterfuge, and mystery. I loved every second because you never knew where the next seemingly innocuous thing would take you, or when what seemed so apparent became murky. We also get the set-up of the net big bad, which seems even scarier than the last big bad, so more suspense and action are coming, and you can just taste it!
