This book,
this is really three stories in one, all centered around Noah and Jamie. Noah
is set-up as a legend at the Asylum, but his reality isn’t matching his
reputation. Jamie and Noah though, they have that connection. That is our first
story, the Jamie and Noah met and fit together story. Then it all falls apart,
and as much as I liked Rhodey (Noah’s uncle) before, I didn’t any more. We
get all the connections, the reasons behind the legend, the making of the man
that Noah is now. Jamie learns about himself, and how to make his connections
with those who are important to Noah. Noah and Jamie still fit, but there is
the larger family that has effects. That is the second story. We finally get
how it all works, and then it doesn’t (cue the tears and tissues), and how Noah
and Jamie have to make decisions and choices, for themselves, for each other.
And I absolutely despise Rhodey at this point, and even by the end of the
book, not sure, he has a lot to make up for. Noah and Jamie get their HEA,
but it isn’t paved with gold, unicorns, and rainbows, it is jagged rocks,
thorns, and tornadoes, and they make it because of the other, solidifying
their love and connection to each other!
We get more
from our previous characters, Lawson and Matt, Curtis and Reed, a lot of Wren
and Doc (Jared). The boys are growing up and Ezran and Garet are getting ready
for college. Tracey absolutely is around for her boy, and her brother, the
aforementioned Rhodey. And by the end, there is a kitty cat, so you know it
was an awesome book 😊
