Where to
begin?!?! I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Seriously, this book just became
one of my top reads from this authour, for this year, and forever. Why?
Because it has such depth of feelings, of insight into the how we human tick,
and what makes us so different from other. Also, how we truly are such an adaptable
species, and what we never thought possible, will change for us in a flash. A
moment where we need to do what we have to, and make choices we never thought
possible, highlighted Darwinism in all its; glory
Shannon had
hope all those years ago, but as time drags on, she loses it. Having a mere
existence isn’t enough for her, especially her same circumstances applied to
others, have different, happier, results. Lindsay gave up hope years ago when
his choices altered Shannon irrevocably. He does what he thinks will make her
happy, while wallowing in the guilt he wears as his hair shirt. Things
change, and suddenly avoidance in no longer an option for these two. Lindsay,
ever the planner, moves ahead with a plan, then keeps ignoring it *gasp* and
berates himself for doing it. Then it starts with big plans, long term plans,
forever and ever plans, and if only he let Shannon know what they were
Shannon is so
scared to have hope again, because she gets hurt every time. Her doubt and
worries were heart wrenching, but she made sure to ask questions and find out
what was going on. Lindsay forgets to plan on what Shannon’s natural reaction
may be to his plans. One thing is clear through it all, Shannon and Lindsay
have a close and binding tie and neither wants anything that isn’t the best
for the other. One of my favourite moments in the book, and this isn’t a
spoiler, is when Shannon realizes her scars were given to her by Lindsay. Lindsay
created her scars when he stitched her skin back together, creating the
perfect lines on her body. That is the closeness of the tie these two have
for each other
Things
progress and change, and Lindsay’s plans didn’t account for a lot of things.
Luckily, after making me ugly cry, we get to see Shannon be the woman she was
always meant to be. Shannon is tired of being ‘taken care of’ and wants to be
able to decide the who and where she will get her care. Lindsay and his plans
will have to change, because she isn’t giving up. Along the way, if a score
gets settled, then Lindsay gave that to her as well, and Shannon fully
embraced the new life she has, on her terms, finally, whole again
Fear not
fellow readers, we get all sorts of wonderfully sexy and hot times along the
way. Exhibitionist, voyeurism, sharing, and some high protocol, and not so
proper office antics, are some of the delights on Shannon and Lindsay’s path.
It was all kinds of kinky fun and depraved delights for us to immerse in!
