Brenna and Jake were absolutely perfect together, like,
really, really amazingly hot and sexy, and sweet and spicy, and…….just really
perfect!
Brenna is strong and determined, and as her story
progresses, you realize just why she had to become that way. The fact that she
is where she is in life is a testament to her drive, and her will to succeed.
The one weakness she seems to have is Jake, and fooling around with, or going
out with, or dating, the captain of the rival hockey team of your college, and
that your dad is the captain of, and that you 100% support, is not something
she wants. But it is something she can’t stay away from, no matter what she
tells herself
Jake notices Brenna the first time he meets her, I mean, who
wouldn’t, she is hot, confident, and owns her hotness as easily as she wears
her red lipstick. She easily earns the name he gives her, Hottie. He is
finishing up his college hockey career, has his NHL contract signed, and wants
to lead his team out with a victory. He is just as driven as her, just as
focused, and then, just like her, he can’t stay away. He doesn’t believe in denying
himself though, and easily resolves that he is going to pursue Brenna. But when
his confidence wavers a bit, there are too many who put doubts in his mind. He
is willing to take all the chances though, because for the first time ever, he
has to reach for what he wants without knowing the outcome
Supporting characters who are freakin’ amazing, funny,
tragic, and complete a fulsome picture of the lives that Jake and Brenna live
in. This book had me starting and not able to stop, and while I know time
passed, I was so engrossed in the story, I didn’t really notice. The depth of
who Jake and Brenna are, their maturity while still finding their way, is truly
wonderful. I absolutely adored and enjoyed this read!
