Great catching up with the crew at the Shadowlands

Beneath the Scars by Cherise Sinclair
This was a great story, and while it started out slow for me, when it picked up, I couldn't stop!

We have known Holt, he has been around, and played an important role in the last book in the series. He is sweet, kind, understanding, a friend to everyone, and just a little too perfect. He was in looks as well, but being on the sharp edge of a knife attack changed that as well. Not hugely, but his perfect looks are now marred. He appreciates everything about Josie from the moment he meets her, but Holt forgets that not everyone has his sunshine approach to life

Josie hasn't had it easy, and being betrayed by the men in her life has left her wary. She internalizes everything, and then discounts it with reason. She tries this with Holt, but he is rather persistent about things. Even when she finally concedes any point, her doubt takes over. Throw in an 11 year old boy, and it definitely ties things up

The bad guys in this book, they are emotional and psychologically bad. The BDSM in this book, very light, Josie has no exposure, and is only there because she is working the bar. Catching up with others, well, Anne and Ben have a big thing happen. We also see Marcus and Gabbie, Sam and Linda, Jake and Rainie, and of course Uzuri and her dragons. Raoul and Kim show up at some pivotal points as well, and a glimpse of what is going on with Dan and Kari.

Overall, I loved the read, and seeing what was going on in the Shadowlands!
