Second chance romance with a big mystery to solve!

Straight up confession, I am not a fan of second chance romances. Also, this couple is every reason why I don't like second chance romances, because they truly did waste so many years for absolutely no reason. But despite that fact, the story of what they did know, and the mystery they end up embroiled in, made me love this book

This is the 4th book in the series, but can easily be read as a standalone. Roman and Augustine had an ill-fated romance years before. They were each others true love, but they broke up. Neither really pushed that hard to get back together, and they end up working together. Something changes in Roman, and he makes a ploy to get him and Gus (Augustine) back in bed together. The mystery that was in the previous books is re-stated here, and the couple in this book in the middle of it. I loved that Gus was a take charge woman, who took no guff from anyone, and stood up to everyone. She had her vulnerabilities, and she wasn't embarrassed by them either. I loved how Roman finally figured out what everyone around him had always seen and knew, and once he did, how he rolled with it. He and Gus were truly perfect together and they compliment each other in every way

Now, that ending, not a cliff hanger, but definitely leaving you wanted the next book immediately!
